Here I fake the look of the panels by using contrast paint color.

under $10 door redo
Flat panel doors in my house are such an eye sore for me! Nonetheless I don't want to spend the money and the labor to replace them. So of course I thought of a couple ways to dress them up. Very easy project here. All you need is some paint, painters tape, and a stencil. I got my stencil from Hobby Lobby for $4 or $5 and mixed some paints I already owned. After this project I love flat doors even more than panel doors because there are so much you can do to them. The possibilities are endless!

SO creative! LOVeeee this!
ReplyDeleteWhat a difference! I like them both but the stenciled door adds SO much to the laundry room. Amazing what a little paint (and some creativity!) adds to a room!

I'm a total door snob...our new house has flat panel doors, and I've racked my brain on how to disguise them until replacing them is possible. Great idea and beautifully done!
ReplyDeleteIt does make such a difference! You are awesome!
ReplyDeleteThis is very pretty. I really want to start using stencils soon.
ReplyDeleteSo lovely! I would love for you to link up with my party at: http://anoriginalbelle.blogspot.com/2012/01/make-it-yourself-monday-10-link-up.html

Wow, it really freshened the doors up! Visiting from Literally Inspired WYTBW.
ReplyDeleteSuch clever and pretty door "revamping". They both look very nice and bring great character to each. Very creative and thanks so much for sharing over at Sunday's Best!
ReplyDeleteLike all the others here, I too love what you did! Had an idea pop into my head tho - what if you made 'faux' panels on the laundry cupboards, leave it at that OR at just one stencil in the middle? So faux panels w/a design in middle of each cupboard. Dunno, just an idea. Thanks for sharing your inspiration.
ReplyDeleteLove this idea, I am going to have to try this! I am a new follower! Found you on Sumo's Sweet Stuff, hope you have a great week!

Oh, this is smart! I have yet to stencil anything, maybe I'll start with a door.
ReplyDeleteVery cute stenciling of the door! :) I'm "thisclose" to buying a stencil for the first time myself, and I'm seeing that even someone who has never done it has the courage, so I will try it myself soon. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteVisiting from Aimee's-It's OverFlowing With Creativity Linky Party today and thanks for sharing this with us :D

You did an awesome job with the stenciling. I LOVE the faux paneling you did, I am definitely tucking that idea away for when we buy a house!
ReplyDeleteToo cute!
ReplyDeleteWow so pretty what a great idea!
ReplyDeleteVery nice!

ReplyDeleteBoy what a difference the paint job does. You did a greatjob thx for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWe have flat boring doors also and I really dislike them. They're too ugly. I'll have to get busy painting them.
My list of want to do projects keeps growing but that will keep me busy and out of trouble (not going to craft stores to buy things). My husband says I'd go hungry to buy craft supplies. That's quite a possibility, lol
So creative Love your Beautiful work..
